A members-owned social club on a private island on Lower Prior Lake, welcoming members and their guests for over sixty years.
Founded in 1964, the Prior Lake Yacht Club is a small, sponsorship-based social club centered on a private island on Lower Prior Lake. Through the season, members host monthly themed gatherings on the island, from the spring opener through the fall closing. It has been a quiet fixture on the lake for over sixty years.
The season opens in May and closes in September. On Friday evenings, members gather informally on the island, bringing their own food and drink and enjoying the shoreline as the light settles over the water.
Once a month, the club hosts a themed party put on by a member committee, the warmest gatherings of the year. The season then closes with a holiday gathering in December, bringing the membership together once more before the next summer begins.
For six decades, the island has been the home of the club and its gatherings. It holds the clubhouse, a dock, a fire ring, and a stretch of quiet shoreline that members have come to know across generations.
Daytime use of the island is open to members and their guests. During scheduled club events, the island is reserved for the membership and those they bring along.
